Wynwood hotspot Le Chick adds some cool notes to a scorching summer with live jazz every Friday night from 8 p.m. to close beginning August 1.

The series will not only feature artists curated by Miami Jazz Bookings, but also a special menu of $12 jazz-inspired cocktails designed by the venue's master mixologist, Pablo Elizaga, to enjoy alongside its signature locally sourced, wood-fired dishes. A sneak peek of the drinks offered to Miami New Times included a "Blue Note Spritz" (Eau d'Or Liqueur, house-made lavender syrup, freshly squeezed lemon juice, soda, Prosecco) and "Savory Smoke," a table-side smoked old-fashioned inspired by legendary Harlem jazz spot Savory Ballroom.

To Le Chick Director of Events & Communications, Ashley James, this is a "little summer jazz club for locals and tourists alike." Guests can enjoy the experience inside the air-conditioned whiskey bar, a simple variation on a theme to which the space has been devoted since its founding in 2017 by lifelong friends Coco Coig and Jorge Sanchez, both from Madrid, Spain. These new series also come as a celebration of the restaurant's decade in the well-known arts district.

"The minute you walk into Le Chick, you experience a unique ambience that feels upscale and elevated while also inviting, thanks to our welcoming staff and playful cocktails," James says. "And we have always loved using our venue to showcase local artists — art, after all, is the reason Wynwood has become what it is today," she adds. "We are humbled and honored to have become such a pillar in the Wynwood community and are excited to now provide this summer Friday night jazz experience to our guests. We believe it's the perfect addition to the neighborhood's nights."

Or, to quote the immortal jazz legend Louis Armstrong: "Hot can be cool, and cool can be hot, and each can be both. But hot or cool, man, jazz is jazz." What better place to put that theory to the test than Miami?
