Wynwood got wilder than a thousand hungry lions at a zebra convention. And SPIN magazine’s Art Basel Miami Beach week party at new club Gramps offered plenty of great music for the soundtrack.

We got drunk and took pictures of it all between repeated food truck visits, and trips around the hood. Araabmuzik played the MPC like Jimi Hendrix played guitar. It was fucking awesome.

Got there midway through Steven A. Clark’s performance. The hype is real. He is an awesome singer. He should do more shows.

Then a light-up hoola-hoop girl got a crowd going during AbdeCaf’s DJ set.

Some rain fell and the crowd migrated inside. A few doors down at the BLADE show, the Morris Park Crew, graffiti heads from the Bronx since 1977, were signing books, and talking about crazy shit from the old days. Cool dudes.

Got back and Kilo Kish was on stage talking about having fun, doing drugs, and partying.

Kilo and her DJ seemed to have a good time on stage, cracking jokes, and later playing Trick Daddy’s “Shut Up” between songs.

Then Kool Keith premiered his short Art Basel movie, something about saying “Chicken chow mein mane” when you see a hot piece of pussy. The crowd looked up to where it was projected on the side of a building and laughed.

Then DJ Yeti hit the decks for a few spins.

Then he introduced Kool Keith and his homie, who stepped up and started killing shit.

Sounding like a mix of 2 Live Crew and Public Enemy, the crew played back to back 30-second cuts of abrasive, in-your-face raps and freestyles about fucking and aliens before taking a couple of breaks to make fun of New York and L.A. They must have played close to 60 songs in under an hour. The set was a drunken blur.

Beer break. Then Araabmuzik hit the stage.

This motherfucker is a monster. He makes beats live by smashing his fists into an MPC at the speed of Ferrari pistons on the highway.

Araabmuzik made the people say….

And then he went even faster.

He made the people on stage go….

This girl really liked how it sounded.

So did they.

It was fucking awesome.

And then it was over.

That was fun.
