Better Than: The fact that the phrase "Turn Down For What" will never get old.

Yes, we said so. "Turn Down For What" came into our lives March of this year. And no, we aren't sick of it.

That is because, really, why should we turn down? Down? Not an option. And that was most definitely the case at last night's kickoff of the two-day iHeartRadio Ultimate Pool Party 2014.

iHeart Radio puts on a fantastic program. Many of us locals are a little confused of what it is exactly. That's because most of us can't get in.

For once, you can't just call up your boy to get on the list. It's hard, we know.

To get into this concert of all concerts, you need to be a guest of the Fontainebleau Miami Beach, and with your room, comes entrance to the show.

All guests began their evening on the lawn of the beautiful Fontainebleau. We mean, is there anything more beautiful than that hotel? Sure, the $25 vodka sodas are less than ideal, but sneak in a flask like the rest of us.

On said lawn, it wasn't just a stage and a crowd. iHeartRadio and its crew took this simple spread of beachside grass and essentially turned it into a mini Ultra Music Festival. Later, Tiësto literally did later, but we are getting ahead of ourselves. So many lights, so much social media feeds coming to life, and it all was being fed live to the world via hundreds of cameras.

Just as most of the fans were waiting in line to get their first of many cocktails, the lights came down and the beautiful mug of Mr. Lil Jon came onto the screen.

Oh, it's the face only a mother could love, but one that we all do too. That's because if Jon is in the building, fun will be had.

When we grow up, we want to be like LJ. He DJs, screams "Yeahhhh," and jumps around to get the crowd insanely pumped. Which he did.

If you ever want to get your night started right, get Lil on board. Oh, and how did we forget that he brought a special guest on stage with him? That surprise being Steve Aoki.

With a little intermission from Nick Cannon, in an outfit he borrowed from Mariah Carey's "Heartbreaker" video, informed us that Iggy Azalea and her ass would be joining us.

Well, he didn't mention the ass, but that is what we were looking forward to seeing in the flesh.

Even though we were a little pissed with Ms. Azalea for not doing pre-show interviews, we can't help but love her.

Did you know she moved to South Florida when she was 16 from Australia? She misses Miami and it's pretty obvious Miami misses her too.

While many fans are just getting on board with this blonde beauty, she has been on the music scene for quite a while. To showcase all she has, Iggy started with "Beat Down" and then went to our personal favorite, "Bounce."

On top of seeing "Fancy" live, fans even got a special treat: a sneak peek of her new single with Rita Ora called "Black Widow." Another great single. We don't see Iggy going anywhere anytime soon.

Then, here came Nick Cannon again. Did you ever hear that sketch by Dane Cook about his friend Karen? Nick Cannon is Karen.

Oh, and we hope Mariah wasn't watching the live feed or she would have seen his creeping hands all over the scantily clad attendees. Tsk-tsk, Mr. Cannon.

Now, what would a Miami show be without a set from a superstar DJ? And who else but Tiësto took over the decks. It started out simple enough with him playing his remix of John Legend's "All of Me." And before we knew, Ultra came early.

We saw fists pump, glow sticks, leg shuffling and all that comes with an EDM megaparty. His summer single tells us that everything is better "Wasted" and last night, we all agreed.

Many thought, "There is no way this party could get better." Then, it was time to get Nickelodeon style and bring out Ariana Grande.

Wait, that is mean. She just turned 21 and is actually a South Florida girl from Boca Raton. And yes, her voice is spectacular, it's just hard to take her seriously with her never-changing outfit of tacky patent leather boots, ponytail, and dress that looks like something out a '70s costumes shop.

One thing she does have going for her? She surrounds herself with insanely hot back up dancers. Nice touch girl, nice touch.

Critic's Notebook

Evening Highlight: Perhaps the highlight of Lil Jon's set was teaching the crowd (AKA white people) the correct motion of window to the wall. Sure, that song came out around the time you were losing your virginity. But apparently, the people of the Midwest are still confused.

Personal Bias: If a real fan was in the audience, there is a good chance they were disappointed with Ariana's three-song set. Really, girl? Three in your hometown? Ugh, it was probably her bedtime. She had to go, we suppose.

Final Thought: Iggy Azalea stopped the show to have her mic pack put back on. "So sorry guys!" she said to the crowd. "But in the mean time, can I get some Ru Paul?" For future reference: Ru Paul can cure any awkward pause.
