If you asked us ten years ago about partying at 11 a.m., the idea of coffee and a wellness class wouldn’t exactly have crossed our minds. But here we are, in a moment where things are shifting, and coffee raves are becoming increasingly popular across the country. Miami, as expected, has its own gem, complete with a latte in hand.

Welcome to Café Grooves, a daytime experience where deep house meets cold brew, and sunrise sets the tempo. Created by Miami locals Hugo Vizcarra and Franco Franchi, Café Grooves was born from a trip to Ibiza, a love for music, and, unexpectedly, a search for Miami’s best barista.

“We came back from Ibiza obsessed with the idea of making house music more accessible and more functional,” Vizcarra tells New Times. “Not everyone wants to drink vodka at 2 a.m. But maybe you want a matcha and a two-step at 10 in the morning.”

The event, which launched just over a year ago, has quickly grown into a monthly ritual. It features well-thought-out DJ lineups, creative coffee menus, pop-up wellness classes, and a crowd that ranges from runners and yogis to late-night warriors in search of a sunrise afterparty. There is no VIP rope, no bottle minimum, just good music and a welcoming setting.

“It started off as five friends with a vision and a group chat,” says CEO and co-founder Jonathan Beltran, 25. “Now we’re pulling over a thousand people, and we’ve sold out every single time.”

The upcoming edition on Saturday, September 27, will be hosted at Furia in the Design District, marking the first time the event heads to this upscale creative enclave. Expect a rooftop sunrise session with 360-degree city views, sets from Miami favorites like Amog and Jovigibs, and what Vizcarra calls “an espresso martini renaissance.”

Café Grooves serves as a blueprint for how Miami’s younger generation is reshaping its social life. The team is intentional about partnering with local vendors like Alano Deli and Night Owl Cookies, and wellness pros like Alex Anderson and Emmy Faria, who lead pre-party yoga and pilates classes.

“Hospitality is changing,” Beltran adds. “People don’t want to spend $35 on a Red Bull vodka in a dark club anymore. They want community, sunlight, and something that feels authentic.”

The coffee? That has its own story. After visiting over 20 shops in search of a partner, Vizcarra stumbled on Luis from Naughty Coffee, a 28-year-old Venezuelan barista he now calls a “coffee prodigy.” Each event features rotating seasonal drinks, guava cream lattes one month, mango matcha the next.

With an NYC debut slated for October and a 2,500-person mega-event coming in January, Café Grooves shows no signs of slowing down. Still, the team’s mission remains clear. “We want to start your day with energy, music, and joy,” Vizcarra says. “If that means partying at 10 a.m., so be it.”
