Music is always being reinvented, and when it comes to the bossa nova beat, it is appropriate that the style’s creators would pass the baton to musicians generated and raised among them such as bassist Marcio Menescal, son of Roberto Menescal and a member of Bossacucanova, a trio that also includes DJ Marcelinho da Lua and keyboardist Alexandre Moreira. Da Lua made an appearance at Big Fish March 5, and now he’s returning with his bandmates to promote their latest album, Uma Batida Diferente (A Different Beat), which integrates bossa nova with elements of electronica without forsaking the classic sound’s Brazilian roots.
Bossacucanova and Suenalo Sound System perform at 7:00 p.m. Friday, April 29, at North Shore Bandshell, 7275 Collins Ave, Miami Beach. Tickets range from $15 to $20. Call 305-672-5202.
