Ambivalent is the moniker of NYC-based DJ/producer Kevin McHugh, of Richie Hawtin’s prestigious Minus label. McHugh’s early production credits include a music series he developed for the multidisciplinary artistic platform Creative Time in the mid ’90s. By the mid 2000s he became associated with the Minus family after sharing the stage with the likes of Magda, Troy Pierce and Matthew Dear, and following a temporary move to Berlin to help Richie Hawtin produce a Plastikman live performance. Ambivalent has since gained increasing recognition in the international techno scene, through releases on the Minus, Clink, Klickhaus, Esperanza, and Leftroom imprints, and his internet radio show, The Nerd Tank, which he shares with acclaimed techno producer Camea. Ambivalent will be performing at Electric Pickle tonight along with PL0T residents Alejandro Sab and Michael Christopher.
Ambivalent at Electric Pickle, Friday, December, 18. 11 p.m.-5 a.m. 2826 N Miami Ave., Miami.
