Summer’s coming and you’ve got this great backyard to throw a party in. Wonderful! Except, of course, for the fact that after spending all Sunday evening laughing, barbecuing, and drinking with friends, they get to leave…and you have to clean up. So, with Monday morning looming in the background like some demon shadow, you spend the next few hours cleaning the grill and picking up bottles and Red Solo cups. Don’t you wish there was a better way?

There is. Just move that Sunday evening soiree to The Federal Food Drink and Provisions and let them host your party. Starting Sunday, June 8 at 6 p.m., the restaurant is hosting Solo Cup Sundays, a down-home barbecue party that’s sort of like being at the home of restaurant partners Aniece Meinhold and Cesar Zapata.

This clever little Sunday event invites you to grab your own drinks from the provided punch bowls (using, of course, Red Solo Cups), while listening to tunes and chowing on barbecue.

Twenty bucks a person gets you access to the self-serve bar that includes three large vats of punch, created by Booze Fairy Emily Brown. The punch bowls change weekly, but expect summer-friendly libations like white peach sangria, a passion fruit and chile “margarita,” and cucumber watermelon punch. Feeling more like a cold one? An ice-filled trough is filled with PBR cans, sodas, and bottled water — yours for the taking.

Of course, no backyard party is complete without someone grilling while you’re chilling. Cesar Zapata’s got that covered, so fill up with barbecue and fixings. Items on the grill are priced between $8 and $18 and include camp fire bacon, made in-house and served with maple and chives; St. Louis-style pork ribs, dry rubbed with pickled peaches; Hawaiian duck leg in a Coca-Cola hoisin glaze with scallions and sesame seeds; charred octopus with jalapeno sweet chili, pickled celery, dried olives and herbs; and a smoked short rib, served bone-in with espresso barbeque sauce.

Best of all? When you’re done, you and your Red Solo Cup can go home to a pristine backyard. No cleanup required.
