Dark skies and rain this past Saturday didn’t deter thousands of beer enthusiasts from enjoying Grovetoberfest in Coconut Grove’s Peacock Park.
As the weather shifted from cloudy to drizzly to full-on pour, beer drinkers gathered under the giant tents to sample hundreds of beers and ales, watch cooking demos and eat at several food trucks.
The only casualty of the day seemed to be the bands on the main stage, who played to only a brave few who stood out in the rain to watch (though many could be seen dancing to the music from the shelter of the beer tents).
Though lines were long, they moved quickly, allowing everyone to get a taste of their favorite beers and try new ones like Schnebly’s new Gator Tail Ale (with sour passion fruit notes) and mango hard cider.
Will you step up to support New Times this year?
At New Times, we’re small and scrappy — and we make the most of every dollar from our supporters. Right now, we’re $17,800 away from reaching our December 31 goal of $30,000. If you’ve ever learned something new, stayed informed, or felt more connected because of New Times, now’s the time to give back.
We’re looking forward to next year’s Grovetoberfest…hopefully with Mother Nature’s full cooperation.
