Short Order for years has loved Daily Bread Marketplace just north of the Grove. For decades, this place has been a comfortable meeting place where Christians, Jews, and Muslims can all agree on one thing: Food is a lot better than settling on the West Bank or dissing Joe Biden.
Daily Bread Pinecrest is just as good. Since 1978, this market, bakery, and eatery has been the spot in P-Crest to buy a tub of tzaziki, fresh pita chips, a hookah, or any of the spot’s Middle Eastern fare.
Among Short Order’s favorites are the parsley-heavy tabbouleh ($7.99),
flavorful marinated chicken platters ($7.99), excellent falafel (a
platter is $7.99, sandwich goes for $5.99), and gyro pita pockets
($5.99) dripping with tahini and salad garnishes.
Also superb
are the pastries — all very sweet — which are drenched with butter and
honey. It’s a lunch/counter service type of joint, but if you’re not a fan
of take-out, no worries. They’ve recently extended their once minuscule
eating area, with only a few sparse tables, to a full-fledged dining
room complete with a colorful mural and booths that have plenty of room
for a massive lamb kafta kebab platter ($7.95)
