Buns & Buns Opening in South Miami

A breadery and grill with a sense of humor is set to open shop in South Miami when Buns & Buns arrives sometime late summer.

The restaurant and bakery has been teasing us with pictures of buns (and buns) on Facebook and Twitter.

Then we received a phone call from one of the owners, who preferred we not reveal his name. He told us that Buns & Buns is not a chain, though the website and branding makes it appear as though it is. The “breadery and grill” will feature breads from around the world — all baked fresh daily and never, ever frozen.

“Bread is the basis of food for nearly every part of the world. Almost every country has its own unique way of making bread and we want to bring some of the most interesting kinds to Miami.”

Currently our anonymous friend is finishing up some world travel in the pursuit of various bread recipes before opening the restaurant in August.

What goes well with bread? Simple foods, like grilled meats, good wine, and craft beer will be served to accompany the fresh manna.

Originally planned for a Midtown or beach location, the mystery owner tells us that he decided on South Miami because a good bread shop and restaurant that serves simple, good food is needed there.

The restaurant, clearly a fan of viral marketing, is asking for pictures of your most adventurous feats of daring-do. In return, you can win a free lunch or dinner when Buns & Buns opens.
