Miami’s dining scene exploded in May, when several of the city’s best chefs opened much-anticipated eateries. Brad Kilgore’s Ember debuted in the Design District, and Coconut Grove saw the addition of Michael Schwartz’s Tigertail + Mary. Sadly, the city lost several fine establishments, including the Wynwood Yard and Soyka. This month, Miami looks forward to the opening of Spanglish by Cocktail Cartel and Giorgio Rapicavoli, as well as Boia De, by the owners of La Pollita.

South Florida’s Sushi Maki chain has released three new vegan sushi rolls dubbed “Kenko” Rolls, which means “healthy” in Japanese. The new rolls are called the 24 Carrot, the Sweet Tato and the Mighty Shroom, and all feature purple, antioxidant-rich “forbidden” rice.

GoBistro Brings Late-Night Ramen to Wynwood

There have been some bright spots though and late last month Hollywood’s GoBistro opened on 25th Street dishing out steamed buns filled with pork belly ($11) and soft-shell crab ($12), a panoply of the far-from-traditional sushi Miamians seem to adore and best of all ramen in four different formats, and nearly all priced at a reasonable $15.
