Things To Do

The Best Things to Do in Miami This Weekend

The best time of the week is finally here — the weekend. Miami offers just about every activity this weekend. On the music front, you can catch Martin Garrix at Story, Cedric Gervais at Space, Afrojack at LIV, and Lady Antebellum at Perfect Vodka Amphitheater. And if by chance you're in the mood for a good ol' game of baseball, the Miami Marlins are playing the New York Mets this Saturday. Here's a glimpse at what our city has to offer this weekend, so get up and get ready for another memorable, Miami-style weekend.

  • Rec Room Barbecue at the Gale Rooftop: Head to the Gale Hotel’s rooftop bar for champagne, tasty barbecue, and live tunes this Friday. Attendees will get to toast to the end of summer with a glass of Veuve Clicquot, munch on barbecue bites, and listen to live music by Miami’s own Psychic Mirrors. Summer is sweet, but fall is even more delicious, so there’s plenty to celebrate.
  • Churchill's Pub 36 Year Birthday Bash at Churchill's Pub: In honor of the pub's birthday, Serrano and the rest of the crew at 5501 NE Second Avenue will be throwing Churchill's Pub 36 Year Birthday Bash, a three-day rager going down this Friday through Sunday. Photo by Alex Markow
  • Martin Garrix at Story:  Now 19, Garrix is much more than just the kid who wrote the mega hit "Animals." He's been named DJ Mag's fourth hottest DJ in the world. He's been scooped up by Justin Bieber's manager Scooter Braun. And he's released a track with Usher.
  • Ball & Chain's 80th Anniversary at Ball & Chain: It's been a year since the venue's reopening, but that's not the only anniversary it plans to celebrate. Sure, you could cock your head in suspicion at Ball & Chain's 80th anniversary and sternly wave a finger in protest because the venue hasn't technically been open for a straight 80 years, but why get mad when you can just shut up, drink mojitos, and dance?
  • Miami Marlins vs New York Mets at Marlins Park: Promotions for this Saturday’s matchup include All You Can Eat Seats as well as a Saturday Spectacular postgame party at the West Plaza. Just because the stats show a dark tunnel ahead for the Fish doesn’t mean the fans can’t have a little fun and enjoy a night at the ballpark.
  • Cedric Gervais at SpaceGervais moved to our city when he was just 15, originally planning to continue traveling across America, but like so many other vagabonds, he fell in love and never left. Now Cedric is inviting his 305 peeps to party with him this Labor Day Weekend join him on the beautiful terrace at Space.
  • Afrojack at LIV27-year-old Nick van de Wall, better known to Miami's party crowd as superstar DJ Afrojack, has been DJing for over a decade. And in that time, he's seen a lot of things change. EDM, a fixture of popular culture in Europe for decades, has only recently exploded in the states. And he couldn't be more pleased.
  • Declaration of Dance Miami at Nikki Beach MiamiIf you're saving your energy for Labor Day weekend, you need to drink a Red Bull and snap out of it. With the sick house beats of Shlomi Aber, Kevin Saunderson, Carlo Lio, and all the uhntz-uhntz junkies at Nikki Beach, sitting down and missing out is the last thing you'll want to do.
  • Original OASIS Charity Cooler Fete at South Miami-Dade Cultural Arts Center: The Sandy B. Muller Breast Cancer Foundation’s Original OASIS Charity Cooler Fete has become a staple for young professionals who appreciate Caribbean culture and for the past eight years has raised awareness for breast cancer organizations providing direct assistance to patients and survivors.
  • Lady Antebellum at Perfect Vodka AmphitheaterYou won't have to take a 747 to see Lady Antebellum get all Nashville at the Perfect Vodka Amphitheatre this week, but you better keep your Wheels Up when the power trio comes sweeping through West Palm Beach with up-and-coming country megastars Hunter Hayes and Sam Hunt.
  • Carnage at StoryCarnage is racking up collabo tracks with lots of fellow "big guys" in 2015. He has dropped turn-up anthem "I Like Tuh" alongside iLoveMakonnen ("fucking biggest song of the year," he says) and worked with trap lord A$AP Ferg.
