From involuntary erectile reactions to not even being able to get it up, the stuff men deal with on the daily isn't always a picnic.

Ladies, admit it: sometimes, dudes have it rough. Not convinced? A couple of guys are taking to the Actors' Playhouse stage to demonstrate -- by using puppets.

Leave it to Miami to host the world's manliest puppet show. Starting previews today, Actor's Playhouse presents Real Men Sing Show Tunes...and play with puppets.

"To have fun with man, at the expense of man, for man" is the goal of this testosterone-packed musical, says David Arisco, artistic director of the show.

Written and starring Paul Louis and Nick Santa Maria, the production offers viewers of all sexes a glimpse at what it's like to be a man nowadays in a society shared by women, children, and even puppets. Actor Stephen G. Anthony will join Louis and Santa Maria to tackle topics that range from dating and sexuality to the unavoidable mid-life crisis and responsibility of marriage and fatherhood. It's all real life situations, just expressed by puppets that have a couple of talented dudes with their hands up their bums.

The show's inception dates back to 1994 when Louis created and wrote all the songs and material for the award winning and nationally syndicated children's puppet TV series Jelly Bean Jungle, where he met and worked with Santa Maria.

"In between takes we would use our sick sense of humor to crack each other up, and one day we decided we should write a puppet show for adults," Louis said of his experiences with Santa Maria.

"This musical is a musical for men who don't like musicals," Santa Maria clarified for any guy with reservations about willingly attending a musical revue.

Ladies, don't think that just because this is a man's show that you've been forgotten. This is a chance for you to see what makes guys tick and even poke a little fun at your beau.

Although there are tons of puppets, make sure to leave the kiddies at home, unless you want to scar them for life. This sharp and risque production is for grownups looking to familiarize themselves with the full spectrum of man and have a laugh in between.

Real Men Sing Show Tunes...and play with puppets will hold preview performances Wednesday and Thursday, July 11 and 12 at 8 p.m. The show will open Friday, July 13 at 8 p.m. and runs through August 12, 2012 at the Miracle Mile Theatre, 280 Miracle Mile, Coral Gables.
