Saturday evening: It was a dark and stormy night in Miami. But that didn’t stop the South Florida culturati from celebrating the end of a chapter of local art history, as the Miami Art Museum’s Lights Out Closing Party offered one last chance to experience its collection of masterpieces before the organization moves into its new downtown digs.

Inside MAM, the vibe was that of a festive gallery opening, with attendees mingling and taking one last look at collections like “Frames of Reference” and “New Work Miami 2013.”

Overall, it was a festive commemoration of the end of an era for MAM, which will get both a new building and a new name — the Perez Art Museum Miami — when it reopens downtown in December. In the meantime, Miami will be missing one of its major art institutions. Hurry back soon, y’all!
