Even if you're a Prius-owning teetotaler afflicted with solar urticaria, there's something awesome about watching a bunch of gas-guzzling Fords, BMWs, and Chevys zip around the 2.3-mile road course at Homestead-Miami Speedway while you slug back a couple of brews in the subtropical sun. So, c'mon, leave your ecological concerns, vow of abstinence, and SPF 50 at the gate it's time for the Grand Prix of Miami.
Beginning this Saturday at 5 p.m., the Grand-Am car race will feature 35 souped-up monster machines in both the Daytona Prototype and GT classes, including Dempsey Racing's number 41, piloted by Patrick Dempsey himself. Yeah, that guy McDreamy from your girlfriend's favorite TV show, Grey's Anatomy, will be behind the wheel of a Mazda RX-8, gunning for the checkered flag. He and the rest of the drivers will also dole out autographs, photo ops, and tubes of sunscreen to fans during the runup to the main event.
