The Pompano Beach location opened February 1, and a ribbon-cutting ceremony followed last week. In a statement announcing the opening, K9 Resorts co-founder and co-CEO Steven Parker said the success of the first location in Wellington led to the company's decision to expand in Broward. The company also has a property in the Orlando area.
Nehme Abouzeid, chief marketing officer of Luxury Pet Hotel Investments, LLC, K9 Resorts Pompano Beach's franchisee, tells New Times the brand is expanding in Florida because of the state's leisure-minded culture. "We think Florida is a great market with a high quality of life — the people, and the vibrant leisure pursuits," he says. The region's status as a travel hub also came into play. "We do everything five-star resort-style... whether people are going to work five days a week and need to leave the dog for daycare, or going on a vacation out of town and need to leave the dog overnight."
K9 Resorts Luxury Pet Hotel has offered luxury doggie daycare and boarding services at its facilities for more than 20 years. The company operates in 20 states with almost 50 locations — 14 in the New York/New Jersey area alone. The company's growth also aligns with the post-pandemic growth of the pet industry, which was valued at $150 billion in 2024. Last year, K9 Resorts secured 32 franchise agreements to open more locations around the United States. This year, it plans to open 25 new resorts and sign more than 30 new franchise licenses.
