With Pokémon running wild in the streets of Miami thanks to the revolution that is Pokémon Go, there has never been a better time to be a fan of the franchise – but there soon will be. On December 3 at 8 p.m., the latest videogame-themed concert will hit the Adrienne Arsht Center for the Performing Arts — and yeah, it obviously will be Pokémon: Symphonic Evolutions.
Part of the 2016-17 Live at Knight Series, the concert will feature a 54-piece orchestra, including local musicians from the Craig Turley Orchestra, for a glorious performance of video-synced nostalgia and gaming excitement. Drawing inspiration from classics and contemporary editions of the videogame series, all-new arrangements will set the ideal stage for Pokémon enthusiasts to catch 'em all to the tune of the most epic boss battles.
“Pokémon: Symphonic Evolutions is a spectacular showcase of the memorable music that has been a hallmark of the Pokémon franchise for nearly 20 years,” says J.C. Smith, director of consumer marketing at the Pokémon Company International. “The concert series serves as a thank-you to fans and an invitation to share our passion for Pokémon by reliving some of our fondest memories with the brand.”
As with any fan-driven experience, the concert itself is just part of the fun. The preconcert action will begin in the lobby as Miami’s Pokémon masters cosplay and celebrate their fandom with con-worthy attire. (No weapons, please.) There is sure to be a young Ash and Misty or two in the crowd.
There might even be some rare Pokémon lurking about as fans load up before the concert at the resident PokéStop located at the Café at Books & Books inside the Arsht Center. Pokémon Go players will even be able to practice their skills at an upcoming Pokéstop Walking Tour at the Arsht Center August 1 at 6 p.m.
For superfans looking to prepare for the occasion, mark your calendars for September 10 and plan to attend #ARTSLAUNCH2016, a free celebration kicking off South Florida’s arts season where a Pokémon costume contest will award one lucky winner two complimentary tickets to Pokémon: Symphonic Evolutions.
The concert will take place December 3 at 8 p.m. inside the Knight Concert Hall. Tickets to Pokémon: Symphonic Evolutions cost $46 to $126 and are available to Arsht Center members June 1 and the general public June 3. Tickets may be purchased through the box office by calling 305-949-6722 or visiting arshtcenter.org.
