The 19th International Ballet Festival of Miami, spearheaded by Pedro Pablo Peña’s Miami Hispanic Ballet, returns for two weekends and features an array of dances and dancers from across the globe. This year, the festival includes both contemporary and classical ballet productions from countries such as Argentina, England, Italy, and France. Highlights include the International Young Medal Performance by award-winning young international dancers Saturday at 8 p.m. at the Colony Theatre (1040 Lincoln Rd., Miami Beach); the Contemporary Performance by various global companies Sunday at 5 p.m., also at the Colony; the Etoiles Classical Grand Gala, featuring individual principal dancers, where the “A Life of Dance Award” will be presented, Friday, September 12, at 8 p.m. at the Miami-Dade County Auditorium (2901 W. Flagler St., Miami); and the closing Star Performance and gala Sunday, September 14, at 5 p.m. at the Fillmore Miami Beach (1700 Washington Ave., Miami Beach).
