Our state may have lost access to Pornhub on the first day of the year, but Floridians are still finding ways to get their kicks. A nationwide study by porn platform Kalon ranked the states with the highest porn consumption, and despite the ban, Floridians placed in the top ten.
Florida came in at a respectable number nine in nationwide porn viewing per capita. The results came from searches on Google Keyword Planner and Pornhub’s 2024 U.S. Insights report, which collected data through May 2025.
For a state that ranks number one in monster dildo sales, fraud, and as the worst city for dating, our porn consumption, which favors lesbian porn over other genres, might seem almost puritanical. Political leanings did not play a role in the leaderboard, with blue states California and New York taking the lead, but red states Texas and Georgia coming in right behind them to round out the top four.
California’s most searched genre was animated, suggesting an appetite for fantasy, while New Yorkers and Texans strongly gravitated towards lesbian porn (it’s always nice to find similarities despite our differences!).
The Kalon study accounted for states that lost access to Pornhub on January 1, 2025, by adjusting the weight of its data points to compensate for the restricted access. Findings from June to December 2024, which did reflect Pornhub data, ranked Florida at number eight for porn consumption, while findings from January to May 2025, which did not include Pornhub’s Insight report, landed the Sunshine State at number 10, with an average ranking of nine for the total research period.
States that are traditionally thought of as conservative — West Virginia, Wisconsin, Arkansas, Montana, and Idaho — rounded out the bottom five for porn consumption, with the latter coming in at number 50. Each state showed low engagement, though Arkansas clocked one of the longest average watch times in the country. (Maybe they just like to slow down and enjoy it.) Of the bottom five, all except for Wisconsin showed a preference for lesbian porn. The Badger State was more drawn to animated adult content.
"By looking at the rate of online searches, interest in specific genres, curiosity-driven terms, and average time spent watching porn, we gain a clearer picture of how people engage with sexual content online," says Kalon. "This is not about right or wrong. It is a reflection of digital behavior and cultural comfort. It shows where curiosity is more openly expressed and where it tends to stay behind closed doors."
