South Beach isn’t shy about separating the haves from the have-nots. In fact, it relishes in its power to make things inaccessible to most. Take, for example, the Florida Room at the Delano, the Lenny Kravitz-designed space that transformed the hotel’s basement into old Florida glamour with a modern twist. During Winter Music Conference alone, celebrities such as Jamie Foxx, David Guetta, Kevin Martin (Candlebox), Patrick Dahlheimer (Live), Jerry Harrison (Talking Heads), baseball star Roger Clemens, and tennis pro Andy Murray were all spotted at the jetsetter hot spot for the Delano Tuesday party. Described as “sexy nightlife” by promoter Scott Meszaros, the night sees plenty of beautiful and international clients.
The dinner/cocktail party starts at 9 p.m. on the hotel’s main floor and casually moves downstairs to the Florida Room as the night progresses. South Beach tastemakers Tommy Pooch and Alan Roth host all of this high-end mayhem. There’s no cover, but slow down there, buddy — this is the Beach after all. Bouncers let in only the best of the best, and there is a good chance you aren’t it.
