There is writing, and then there is scriptwriting. The latter is a science and a technique that one doesn’t just come by. It’s hard to learn by simply reading books about the subject, particularly because most books will contradict themselves on important points, such as format.
That’s where Julie Gray comes in. Gray, founder of the Script Department and author of the book Just Effing Entertain Me, will conduct a two-day seminar at Miami Beach Cinematheque. This Saturday, Idea to the Page to the Screen: Fearless Writing for the Passionate Screenwriter will cover brainstorming exercises and how to create effective, unforgettable characters for the screen.
