For ten long months each year, foodies across South Florida wait with bated drool for August 1, the official kickoff of the citywide gourmet extravaganza known as Miami Spice. And now that last week’s Iron Fork event has launched the 2014 edition, Miamians can spend the next seven weeks taking a gastronomic tour of the 305’s hottest restaurants, all without breaking the proverbial bank.
Foodies can dig into three-course meals at swanky spots such as Villa Azur, the Bazaar by José Andrés, and Azul at the Mandarin Oriental and please their palates with fancy-schmancy edibles like beet and goat cheese millefeuilles, salmon en papillote sauce alcaparrado, and Black Angus short-rib hon dashi with Worcestershire sauce, cauliflower, and white asparagus.
All the coolest restaurants in town are participating, from Swine Southern Table & Bar and Tongue & Cheek to Toro Toro and SushiSamba. Diners have 174 options in total. From veg-friendly to meat-heavy, there’s every edible adventure imaginable.
So how many can you fit on your dance card this year?
Miami Spice runs through September 30 at restaurants across the county.

Aug. 1-Sept. 30, 2014
