The challenges facing local news organizations are very real. That's why reader support matters more than ever. If you believe independent journalism matters, make a contribution today and help us reach our summer fundraising goal of $10,000 by August 9.
There are only so many photos you can take of your cat Minksy and still call yourself a photographer and not just a feline fancier. What you need is a challenge of reality-TV-like proportions. This Sunday, sign up for Photomarathon, a photo contest organized by the nonprofit Fotomission and Tropicolor photo lab. Here’s how it’ll work: Photo enthusiasts will be assigned six topics to photograph in South Beach over five hours. The assignments and time constraints could be the very pressure you need to squeeze out a diamond of a photograph from your digital SLR.
The first-, second-, and third-place winners will receive prizes, and all of the 25 top entries will be exhibited in the Tropicolor Gallery beginning May 9.
