On the good ship Titanic, have a bad trip cross the Atlantic…. A strong pop cultural reference, the Titanic continues to intrigue after plummeting to the bottom of the ocean during her maiden voyage almost a century ago. Certainly the disaster has the stuff that makes for a good folktale — tragedy, triumph, and an enormous loss of wealth, not to mention life. Even the search for the sunken ship recalls the romance of nineteenth century exploration, which brings us to “Titanic: The Artifact Exhibition.” The exhibit is organized to present the Titanic as her passengers would have known her. On display are re creations of staterooms, the Grand Staircase, and the Veranda. Expect the usual instructional materials, but best of all are the more than 350 authentic items plucked from the wreck.
