From Miami Dolphins general manger Jeff Ireland asking potential draftee Dez Bryant if his mother was a crack-addled prostitute, to several players getting busted for things like DUI and alleged domestic violence, to wide receiver Brian Hartline’s car being found abandoned on I-75 after a hit-and-run, this summer has been a long and ugly one for the Fins. We also saw Zach Thomas retire and watched helplessly as Jason Taylor signed with our most bitter rival, the New York Jets.
Nothing redeems off-season misadventures like actual, real-life football. Sure, this Saturday’s meeting with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers at Sun Life Stadium is just a meaningless preseason game. But it’s football. Watch as the Dolphins’ next generation — rookies Jared Odrick and Koa Misi, newly acquired linebacker Karlos Dansby, and Pro Bowl free-agent pick-up Brandon Marshall — seek salvation in the end zone.
