Remember in 2006 when Colin Farrell and Jamie Foxx stared in a movie version of the iconic 80s television series Miami Vice? Of course you don’t, because virtually nobody went to see it. The movie was such a bomb that Farrell himself can barely remember making it. And in typical Miami fashion, the movie was plagued with production problems named Katrina, Wilma, and Rita.

But that hasn’t stopped studio executives from (maybe) attempting — again — to reboot the pastel-hued kitsch classic. Apparently the recipe of box office bomb mixed with hurricanes wasn’t enough to convince somebody that a reboot might not be a good idea. According to rumors floated by LatinoReview’s El Mayimbe, Universal Pictures is asking screenwriters to pitch scripts for an entire franchise. That’s right, Crockett and Tubbs, linen suits, and a revolving cast of cool guy sports cars might become a permanent fixture on the big screen.

If the rumors are true then Miami’s reputation as a glitzy, car-obsessed culture run by drug kingpins is sure to be solidified forever. In case you forgot about the visual glory of the original Miami Vice (or, like weren’t born yet), here’s a helpful reminder:
