In concept, Rick Santorum’s latest ad targeting Mitt Romney really isn’t so bad. To drive home his point about Romney’s mud-slinging campaign, the commercial depicts him firing actual mud at cardboard cutouts of Santorum — none of which stick, of course.

But when your last name has become a euphemism for, well, you know, it’s maybe not a great idea to run ads featuring fecal-looking sludge.

Santorum’s fake poo-flinging ad is just the latest in America’s long tradition of exaggerated and ridiculous political commercials. Hell, it’s not even our favorite. But you can check it out after the jump, along with five more serious(ly funny) politicians’ commercials.

Yes, we have the maturity of an 8-year-old. But seriously, can you watch this whole commercial without giggling? We didn’t think so.

This one’s intentionally funny. But we’re not laughing with Huckabee; we’re laughing at him and his desperate pandering to the dweebs who created the Chuck Norris meme in the first place.

Dale Peterson tells it like it is, but we still don’t know what “it” is, because we’re too busy laughing at his 10-gallon hat and random rifle.
