We didn’t know we liked our rock ’n’ roll soaked in PBR until we heard the Deaf Poets. Aw hell, yes we did, but we fell in love with that in-your-face attitude all over again when we read that precise description in the local duo’s bio. It’s an apt description for the big sound coming out of these boys. They make the kind of rowdy, well-trained yet devil-may-care music that fans of the Strokes, Cage the Elephant, or the Stooges will find appealing.
It’s hard to believe two guys with just two instruments can produce such room-filling noise, and that’s why you must see them to believe. Join Deaf Poets for their East Coast tour kickoff at the legendary Churchill’s Pub (5501 NE Second Ave., Miami). It’s practically its own festival, with supporting performances from nine bands across two stages.
It’s all turning up and going down Friday from 9 p.m. until 3 a.m. Admission is free — yes, that’s ten bands for no dollars; they’re insane — and all ages are welcome.
