Stuffed into one of the few buildings left on South Beach that doesn’t house a nightclub is the country’s finest collection of twentieth-century design. The Wolfsonian Museum‘s bounty isn’t acquired cheaply, so the annual A Very Wolfsonian Weekend strives to raise money and awareness for its programs. Three public events make up the festivities. Tonight at 7:00 at the Lincoln Theater, industrial designer and Wolfsonian board member Carl Gustav Magnussen will honor a diverse array of brilliant local designers, including Florence “Shu” Knoll Bassett, Dan Paul, Michael Graves, Nasirand Nargis Kassamali, and the Tupperware Brands Corporation.
Tomorrow, the celebration commences with a gala dinner at 7:30 p.m., followed by a late-night party at the Bacardi Building. The best is saved for last though. From noon to 6:00 p.m. on Sunday, the museum itself opens its doors at no cost. Tickets for the gala evening begin at $500 and the late-night party is $100. The other two events are free.
