The Florida Panthers, and more specifically Richard Zednik, survived a scare February 10. Zednik suffered a gash on his neck from Olli Jokinen’s skate blade when the team captain was checked and upended by Buffalo Sabres forward Clarke MacArthur. Zednik quickly skated to the bench, where trainers took over and got him to the hospital as a stunned silence fell over the crowd. The powers that be decided to finish the game, and the shaken Panthers dropped another game, but that was the least of their problems. Thankfully Zednik should be fine and the Cats will fight another day.
Next up on the docket is the Boston Bruins and their enormous six-foot-nine D-man Zdeno Chara, who will be looking to avenge the 6-3 drubbing Zednik and company dished out February 9. Let’s just hope a lot less Panther blood is spilled at the BankAtlantic Center.
