The challenges facing local news organizations are very real. That's why reader support matters more than ever. If you believe independent journalism matters, make a contribution today and help us reach our summer fundraising goal of $10,000 by August 9.
Founded in 2002 by artistic director Patrick Dupré Quigley, Seraphic Fire is an ensemble choir with the kind of pipes that inspired a collaboration with Shakira for her album Oral Fixation II, which ultimately went Platinum on the Billboard charts. This Sunday, at Chant: A Seraphic Fire Candlelight Experience, hear the sublime, yet eerie, sound of the men of Seraphic Fire singing Gregorian Chant at the Miami Beach Community Church. The day’s program will be complemented by a selection of Renaissance motets by Palestrina, Josquin, Dufay, Lassus and Taverner. Also included “Dona Nobis,” music be by up-and-coming composer Joseph Gregorio.
The ambiance will be lit by candles and the melodies sung hauntingly in Latin. Close your eyes and relax and you’ll soon forget that you’re in one of the loudest, untz-untz capitals in the world. You need this.
