A faceless man wearing a large trench coat and holding an umbrella approaches you. He hands you a bright blue bowler hat that has the power to transport you from your dull world and into a place filled with awe and wonderment.
Such is the premise of Cirque du Soleil: Quidam. The word quidam, translated from French to English, means “everyman,” and it is that everyman whose story is really being told in Cirque’s latest South Florida show.
Quidam follows a young girl named Zo who is unhappy with her life. She enters an alternate world where she meets people who aim to teach her valuable life lessons. Through Zo’s adventures, led by the nameless quidam, audiences find themselves re-evaluating their outlook on life and perhaps even relating to a character or two onstage.
