In addition to interviewing celebs on the red carpet, comedian Kathy Griffin has played Eminem’s nurse in a music video and Brooke Shields’s bitter colleague on Suddenly Susan. So it’s no surprise she landed on Hollywood’s D list. But the surgically enhanced, red-headed vixen might have crossed paparazzi lines into a whole new fame category. She’s had big success with her HBO comedy specials; My Life on the D-List has aired for six seasons; and she has even scored a few book deals. Hey, maybe she’s not so D-List anymore.
Following in the comedy footsteps of Joan Rivers, Griffin has paved the way for other femme comedians with her razor-sharp tongue. When she won one of her two Emmys, she said, “Now, a lot of people come up here and thank Jesus for this award. I want you to know that no one had less to do with this award than Jesus. He didn’t help me a bit. So all I can say is, ‘Suck it, Jesus — this award is my god now!’”
