During last night’s triple overtime showdown between the Miami Heat and Atlanta Hawks, NBA Hall of Famer-turned-broadcaster Charles Barkley opened up about his new gig as Weight Watchers‘ celebrity spokesperson.
During a first quarter commercial break, Barkley told his TNT comrades Reggie Miller and Marv Albert that Weight Watchers is a racket.
“I thought this was the greatest scam going — get paid to watch sports. This Weight Watchers thing is a bigger scam,” he said.
According to Sir Charles, he’s contractually obligated to lose two pounds a week. After three months on the Weight Watchers programs, Barkley’s down 38 pounds and says, “I ain’t never miss a weigh-in, never going to.”
As for basketball, Barkley thinks that Atlanta Hawks are incredibly boring. “Man I can’t stand to watch this Atlanta Hawks team play… the Hawks are nothing but a bunch of nice guys.”
Wonder if the Hawks fans are planning a “Fuck You, Chuck!” chant next time the (slightly less) big man rolls through ATL.
