Keep Miami New Times Free
We’re aiming to raise $7,500 by April 26. Your support ensures New Times can continue watching out for you and our community. No paywall. Always accessible. Daily online and weekly in print.
There will be a melding of artistic minds tonight, with strange creative bedfellows uniting as one of America’s most innovative choreographers and a British pop music genius mix it up with our own Miami City Ballet. Twyla Tharp (who has danced with Martha Graham and collaborated with director Milos Forman as well as the piano man himself, Billy Joel) twirls into town with a new program titled Nightspot, part of the MCB’s Program IV. Working alongside Tharp is our favorite man in specs, Elvis Costello, putting together unique harmonies and melodies to sway dancers and audience members into a climax of cultural contentment.
To top it off, ballet buffs will be pleased with the assortment of dances accompanying Nightspot, including George Balanchine’s “Square Dance” and “Tarantella.” You can indulge in the moving arts at 7:30 at the Arsht Center.
