Summer heat and humidity: bad. Summer fruit: good. Rare tropical fruit samples at the Redland Summer Fruit Festival: even better. There are local wines and food too, plus the chance to nibble on fruititarian delicacies that our nontropical countrymen can only dream about. Just cruise down to Homestead’s Fruit & Spice Park Saturday and Sunday, June 11 and 12, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Fork over a miserly eight bucks (kids under 11 get in free) and it’s all yours.

Will you step up to support New Times this year?
At New Times, we’re small and scrappy — and we make the most of every dollar from our supporters. Right now, we’re $17,800 away from reaching our December 31 goal of $30,000. If you’ve ever learned something new, stayed informed, or felt more connected because of New Times, now’s the time to give back.
