If you’ve listened to Tokischa, you know the Dominican rapper’s music is all about body and sex positivity in their rawest forms. Her latest single, “Ridin'” is no exception.
“Ponte labial si tu pussy está dry/Quiero sentarme en esa cara tonight,” she sings on the short-and-sweet reggaeton track, which dropped in late January and clocks in at exactly two minutes. Days after its release, New Times caught up with Toki as she led an exclusive VXN Workout class at the brand’s Miami studio to celebrate the launch of the single. It’s the first song of several dropping over the next couple of months, she says, ahead of the release of her highly anticipated debut LP.
“It’s a cute, sexy perreo,” the rapper told New Times of “Ridin'” before the hour-long twerk sesh, which was livestreamed on her brand-new Twitch channel. Dressed in a brown thong bodysuit and tights, the rapper said the song was partly inspired by her fitness journey.
“I’m pretty proud of how much I’ve worked on my body and how far I’ve come,” she said. “In this song, I’m talking about [how] I have this body ’cause I’m riding all day…Not [only] in a sexual way — but that, too.”
Her signature raunchy undertone is there, sure, but Tokischa says the song is ultimately about bossing up in all aspects of life: “I’m the rider of everything I do. I’m the boss, la jefa, the owner.”
She’s taking that energy on the road soon, with six dates on FKA Twigs’ upcoming Body High Tour, which kicks off at Factory Town next month. “There’s] a lot of new music in the show and a lot of songs coming out these couple of months,” she teases. And yes, she says her debut album is coming soon. “I know I’ve been saying this for like three years, but I’m serious this time.”
In the meantime, she’s starting the year on a high note, with four Premio Lo Nuestro 2026 nominations, including for Female Artist of the Year in the urbano category. Not bad for a girl from DR who still pokes into a VXN class now and again to dance it out with the locals.
