Fort Lauderdale’s favorite spot for natural wine is heading down I-95. Sidewalk Bottleshop, the laid-back Flagler Village hangout known for its small-batch pours and neighborhood feel, is opening a new location in Miami on Thursday, December 12.

The new spot, called Sidewalk Miami, marks the first expansion for co-owners and sommeliers David Lopez and Walter Navarro. Their Fort Lauderdale flagship, located at 901 Progresso Dr., has built a following for its mix of natural wines, friendly service, and rotating food pop-ups. Guests can enjoy their drinks by the glass or take bottles to go, all sourced from small, family-run producers that work without pesticides or additives.

When Sidewalk Miami announced the upcoming opening on Instagram, fans immediately took to the comments to express their excitement. However, the new Miami location has a long history in Miami’s foodie scene.

A New Home, But a Familiar Place

Sidewalk’s Miami outpost will open inside a space familiar to many, the North Miami space that previously housed Paradis Books & Bread, the bakery, café, and wine bar that closed in February 2024 after two years in business, and later housed Four, a short-lived but beloved collective featuring coffee, pizza, and baked goods, that New Times had profiled earlier this year.

In their announcement, the Sidewalk team wrote, “After Paradis left, Miami has had a void that frankly we can’t stand anymore. Miami deserves real wine bars with thoughtful lists at fair prices. We want to bring back that same love in the wine community and celebrate with all of you.” They continued, “The era of no real wine bar and $24 glasses of wine is dead! Good riddance. We wanna throw down the best food, resurrect dance parties, and bring the community together by creating social events.”

However, it’s essential to note that after the closure of Paradis came Four, which will be in business until November 2. One person commented, “Congrats! But until then, Four has been making excellent use of this space, providing Miami with exactly what it needs: community, vibes, food, and drinks. Come celebrate their final weekend until November 2!” Others agreed, writing, “After Paradis closed, we came to love Four and their wine bar with thoughtful lists and fair selections! Vibes are unmatched always. So many fun memories at their community events. Can’t wait to see what will bloom next in this space.”

What to Expect at Sidewalk Miami

Sidewalk’s new location promises the same mix of energy and expertise that made its Fort Lauderdale shop a favorite. Expect approachable pours, music, and events designed to bring the community together, from food pop-ups to dance nights.

At the Fort Lauderdale shop, the team operates the Sidewalk Diner, a rotating food pop-up that has served a diverse range of dishes, including birria banh mi sandwiches, oysters with honeydew mignonette, honey butter biscuits, and Buffalo cauliflower. There’s no confirmation yet on the Miami lineup, but if it follows the same formula, expect something different every week.
