A unique piece of Miami real estate is now available for $20.9 million, although some may view it as the site of their next teardown.

David Wallack, CEO of Mango’s Tropical Café in Miami Beach and Orlando, is selling his “Whispering Pines” estate at 5725 Bayshore Dr., a 5,402-square-foot waterfront property in the Morningside neighborhood. It is one of only 13 bayfront lots in the neighborhood and the only one currently for sale.

The fully gated, four-bedroom home, which sits on more than three-quarters of an acre, has Biscayne Bay’s Rectory Island, an ibis sanctuary, in its backyard, which Wallack notes provides a beautiful display of wildlife at night. The property features $1 million worth of landscaping, including bamboo trees, tropical plants and flowers, avocado trees, banana fruit trees, coconut trees, and mango trees, “along with the aphrodisiac tropical scents of gardenias and night-blooming jasmine,” according to the listing. The home’s interior features wood paneling and wood and marble flooring.

Its more unusual aspects include a music studio, a meditation garden, a koi pond, a custom-designed copper sculpture front door, a custom-built covered wet bar, an antique 140-year-old gazebo from Indonesia, and a bayside treehouse with a lounge bed and open bay views.

An elevated walkway will take you to the custom treehouse. Before you enter, feel free to take a quick dip in the hot tub sitting under a canopy of trees. There is also a large oval swimming pool and an expansive coral stone deck.

The primary bedroom, with a freestanding copper fireplace, is surrounded by glass walls that offer views of the lush vegetation. And guests may enjoy their own tropical oasis: a 1925 cottage with its own bedroom, living and dining area, kitchen, and private outdoor terrace.

“‘Whispering Pines’ is magical and stands apart with its flexibility and development potential,” listing agent Jill Eber of the Jills Zeder Group told Miami Living. “This is an extraordinary opportunity to create your magnificent trophy estate on over three-quarters of an acre, boasting 125 feet of unobstructed bay views with a dock ideal for all water activities. This property holds immense appeal, blending exquisite natural beauty and redevelopment potential into one truly rare offering.”
