The loud and lively Taverna Opa opened its third outpost last week, the latest venue being the Dolphin Mall. As with the original, which opened in Hollywood, Florida, in September 1997, and with Taverna two in South Beach, the draw is solid Greek food (including this nice looking salad) and a wild scene. The latter is bolstered by Greek “Zorba”-style dancing, apparently aimless tossing of copious amounts of white paper napkins up in the air throughout each evening, nightly belly dancing, and a laser light system.
There’s more: Tomorrow evening, and every Thursday night hence, is Ladies’ Night, meaning half-price cocktails for the prettier gender from 9 p.m. to midnight. Tables are on a first-come, first-serve basis, but there are hundreds of indoor/outdoor seats.
At Taverna Opa, it’s fun fun fun ’till Daddy takes the tsatziki away.
