The challenges facing local news organizations are very real. That's why reader support matters more than ever. If you believe independent journalism matters, make a contribution today and help us reach our summer fundraising goal of $10,000 by August 9.
Luna Corner Pizza opened today at Biscayne Blvd. and 69th Street. The Neapolitan-style pies are made with multi-grain dough and San Marzano tomatoes, and are arguably the fastest pizzas ever: Each one takes less than five minutes to make and bake from scratch. Honestly.
The venue is owned by the Amatruda family, who opened their first Luna Pizzeria in 1968 in Crema, Italy, “when the idea of the ‘pizza’ was still unknown” (this will come as news to food historians). Then the family expanded and opened up Luna Corner Pizzas in France and China. Seriously.
Luna serves five signature pies including Margherita, sausage, and “Hawaiano” with pineapple. The restaurant also offers “authentic Italian desserts” such as “apple pie, chocolate mousse…” The “state-of-the-art kiosk” includes a stone oven, LCD television screens, and “insightful quotes from legendary Italian personalities, such as Leonardo da Vinci, Giorgio Armani, Andrea Bocelli and Sophia Loren”. No, really, we swear, we’re not making any of this up.
Luna Corner Pizza is located at 6815 Biscayne Blvd., Miami; 305-507-9209.
