Independent Journalism in Miami Needs You
We need to raise $10,000 by August 9 to support the reporting our community depends on. Reader support keeps us independent and is playing a larger role in funding local journalism and shaping what comes next. If you believe independent local journalism matters, make a contribution today.

Enough about what our congressional delegates and candidates think about the financial crises. Is Ileana Ros-Lehtinen a three time Pro Bowl selection? Does Mario Diaz-Balart have a Super Bowl ring? Did Raul Martinez deliver the Patriot’s first regular season loss in 21 games? Nope. So what does Dolphins linebacker Joey Porter think about all this financial hullabaloo?
“I’m about to go dig a hole in my back yard and put it in my back yard where I can see it,” Porter said Monday. “I don’t like this stock stuff. I don’t like not being able [to rely on] this bond and that bond. Everything’s funny. I don’t trust nothing.”
That’s according to ESPN, but with a $32 million contract, Porter doesn’t have much to worry about.
