Apparently regular old dog fighting isn’t inhumane and horrible enough for some people.
Miami-Dade County Animal Services say they have rescued a group of dogs from the Goulds area used in a form of dog fighting called “trunking.”
“[They] put the dogs in the trunk, lock it up, and they run around, put the music on very, very loud so no one can hear it,” Dahlia Canes, a rep of Miami Coalition Against Breed Specific Legislation, told Local 10. “After 10 or 15 minutes, they stop. The dead dog they throw out and the winner keeps going with it.”
A concerned good Samaritan called Animal Services Wednesday to report that a man in Goulds has been seen repeatedly placing dogs in his truck. Authorities investigated and found horrendous conditions. Five adults dogs and four puppies were rescued. Many appear to be pit bulls. The dogs were kept in kennels without food or water.
Many of the dogs had sustained injuries, including scars on their faces, open wounds, a broken ankle, and a damaged eye.
However, authorities have yet to find the person responsible.
