Listen, building fancy-ass condo buildings for rich foreigners to buy on Miami Beach is not an art form. It’s business. It’s pure capitalism. Ain’t nothing wrong with that, but trying to claim otherwise gives off a vibe of mind-numbing pretension.
Argentinian developer Alan Faena is busy building his “Faena District,” a massive luxury condo and hotel complex in Mid Beach and has enlisted film director Baz Luhrmann and his wife to design the interiors. To drum up buzz, Faena and Luhrmann star in this ad in which they talk about the development while making absolutely zero sense.
“It’s like a movie, but it’s real,” say Luhrmann of the development. Which, OK, so …it’s real life? It’s like something that doesn’t really exist, and yet it exists. Mind blown!

“A place where we mix culture and art,” says Faena later on. Whoa, whoa, whoa! Mixing culture and art? What a revolutionary idea. No one before has ever dreamed of mixing culture with art. This powerful combination could be almost as groundbreaking as the time someone decided to mix music with sound.
Of course, if you’d like to live in this magical land where they dare to mix culture and art, you better have money. Prices are purported to start at $3 million for apartments in the residential sector, Faena House, and go all the way up to $50 million.
