The unique and amusing privilege of growing up in this strange and tropical land is one that is best appreciated as an adult. When you’re young, you take the television presence of such shining stars as Walter Mercado or Belkys Nerey for granted, never fully understanding how special they are. American icons, not exactly, but Miami icons, definitely.
A group of crafty women who mostly were raised in the Magic City were so inspired by our hometown heroes that we decided to pay homage to these colorful characters. In a frenzy of creative passion for those people that have defined local culture over the years, we dug deep into our craft closets and created paper bag likenesses of a few of the brilliant and bizarre folks we admire.

The godfather of booty bass, Luther Campbell, a.k.a. Uncle Luke, formerly of 2 Live Crew and currently on the cover of the Miami New Times is one of our favorites. Here, you can see that he’s been created in the style of young Luke. He’s got his chain and he’s flying the flag on his head. Hey, we want some Luther!
