It’s between the Pringles and the Hawaiian Punch
How else to interpret the sight of sushi being sold at Walgreen’s? For those who think this signals the raw fish craze has jumped the shark — sorry, but that happened years ago, when Publix and Costco started hawking it. Like the pizza pie and burrito before it, sushi is now simply part of the pantheon of American fast food. For better or for worse. We suspect Walgreen’s would be filed under “for worse”. How bad is it? Sorry, but New Times just doesn’t pay me enough to try such stuff. I will just say that it looks like one would expect Walgreen’s sushi to look. It’s only a matter of time before we’ll be subjected to a 7-11 Slurpee and Sushi deal. —Lee Klein
