South Beach Comedy Festival 2015: Patton Oswalt, Hannibal Buress, and Bill Burr

In the immortal words of Heath Ledger’s Joker, “Why so serious?!” With sea levels rising, epic traffic issues, and rising housing costs, Miamians need some comic relief.

Luckily, the South Beach Comedy Festival (SBCF) is coming up, so we’ll have plenty of chances to practice our gleeful guffaws. This year’s lineup has just been announced, and it looks like it’s bound to be a laugh riot with Patton Oswalt, Hannibal Buress, Bill Burr and Mark Normand, among others.

This is the festival’s 10th year, and it’s running from April 8 through 11 at its usual haunt: the Fillmore Miami Beach.

Both actor and comedian, Oswalt has starred in shows including Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. and The King of Queens. And in maybe his biggest claim to fame, he was the voice of uber-adorable Remy in Ratatouille.

Known for his often controversial Twitter commentary and occasional pranks (including potentially drunk-Tweeting from the Oscars), Oswalt is the master of snark. Hopefully he’ll grace the audience with some MIA-inspired quips.

Then there’s Hannibal Buress, a rapidly rising Emmy and WGA Award-nominated star who, in the words of GQ, “makes us ugly laugh. Hard.”

He’s a cast member in Comedy Central’s Broad City and co-hosts Adult Swim’s The Eric Andre Show. He even took a turn in Neighbors alongside Seth Rogen and Zac Efron — oh, and wrote for SNL and 30 Rock.

The full lineup (that’s been announced thus far) includes these dudes, plus Burr (originally of Chappelle Show fame), Normand (Village Voice’s Best Comedian of 2013), Miami’s own Michael Yo and the Mad Cat Theatre Company. With this roster of raconteurs, this is the levity we’re all desperately in need of.
