The Urban Bush Women are a force — a force for change, innovation, and historical homage. Since 1984, this renowned troupe has been using powerful, ground-shaking dancing, acting, and singing to tell stories that most of us never get to hear.
Through women’s voices and bodies, compelling choreography, and innovative rhythms, this nonprofit dance troupe speaks the language of the African-American experience, using movement and performance to tell the stories of the disenfranchised and unheard.
Moving to the beat of egalitarian values, social change, equality, and inclusivity, the ladies of UBW challenge the status quo while embracing an authenticity of experience as they leap, shake, and stomp their way across the stage.
More than just a dance group, UBW is a teacher, and this is a lesson you won’t soon forget.
