The future of education in Miami-Dade is here, and it involves a whole lot more corporate advertising and a lot less paper.

The Miami Herald reports schools are cutting down on paper in favor of technology in an effort to save money… oh, and the environment, maybe.

Meanwhile, in light of recent budget cuts, CBS4 reports the school board approved a measure that would allow corporate advertising on school grounds. Companies are already submitting proposals to install back-lit billboards and LCD screens that flash up to 15 ads inside and outside schools. One company even wants to place a sponsored cell-phone-charging station on every campus — presumably so the kids can keep their BlackBerries juiced up and text “wanna are it” to each other all day.
