$10,000

You bought that 55 gallon drum of personal lubricant off of Amazon, didn’t you? Because according to Amazon.com sales data, Miami is the sexiest city in America. Which means we buy more “sexual wellness” products off of Amazon per capita than any other city. That also helps make us the third most romantic city in America.

To come up with the list for “most romantic” cities, Amazon compiled sales of “romance novels and relationship books (Kindle books and print books); romantic comedy movies (digital and DVDs); a collection of romantic music from Dean Martin, Barry White, Luther Vandross, Maxwell and Miguel (CDs and MP3s); along with sexual wellness products” on a per capita basis for every city in America with 100,000 or more people. All sales between Jan. 1, 2012 and Jan. 23, 2013 were considered.
So using all of that criteria, Miami was named the third most romantic city. We sit behind Knoxville, Tenn. and Alexandria, Va. respectively. Orlando came in fourth.
Though, when taking into account just “sexual wellness” products, Miami reigns supreme for the second year in a row
In case you’re wondering what Amazon considers “sexual wellness” products, a quick search turns up things like “Mandelay” desensitizing gel, “tightening” gel, breast enhancement pills, bikini zone hair removal cream, “clitoral gel,” and “relaxing anal spray.”
Sexy indeed.
So if you’ve ever wondered why your roommates or coworkers are so paranoid about making sure no one opens their Amazon orders, wonder no more.
